PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Tennessee Valley Falcons Chapter, Falcon Club of America

I can’t stop thinking about the fantastic cruise we had to Dahlonega on June 5th. Even though it was just the McMahans and us, we had a cool morning start from Cleveland, and the scenery along the back roads of TN/GA was awesome. We arrived at the Smith House a bit early and had time to explore the basement, where a gold mine from the 1800’s had been unearthed during a renovation in 2006. We were able to look down into a 35 ft, well-like shaft where gold ore was mined under the original building. After the Southeast FCA Chapter arrived with 9 Falcons, we went to the dining room for a delicious Southern cooked, family-style lunch. The fried chicken was the best I have had since my mother’s. I sure am sorry that other TVFC members were unable to join us.

Our next club event is the picnic on Saturday, June 26th, at Deer Park in Cleveland, TN. We need a count of those planning to attend so we know how much meat the club will need to provide. We will arrive at 11:00 am to set-up and eat 11:30-12:45. The entrée will be Bar-B-Q pork from Couch’s Restaurant in Ooltewah. Plates, utensils, cups and napkins will be provided. If you are coming and have not yet let Mary know what side dish you plan to bring, please do so by June 19th. We will be sending out a reminder with directions.
